ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

What do you really want for your child?

As parents, we all want to see our children thrive academically, socially and emotionally.  We want their childhood experience to nurture and celebrate their natural sense of joy, wonder and belief in their own limitless potential. The Montessori Method embraces that innate curiosity by creating and stimulating and nurturing academic environment that encourages early learners to confidently and independently pursue their inquisitiveness. A love for learning is paramount.  It’s heart warming to see the children so excited about learning.

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

Character building is an essential part of Montessori education, in which we place strong emphasis in instilling good human virtues and moral values throughout our curriculum. It includes practicing strategies to assist children to foster traits of kindness, politeness, independence and respect of self, others and the environment. One of our fundamental aims is the inspiration of the child’s heart. We present the great moral and spiritual themes, such as love, kindness, and joy. Everything is intended to nurture the child.

Harwood Montessori embodies the very essence of what a school should be: a vibrant community of students who are excited to learn, a place where open communication, engaged and dedicated teachers, a bright classroom and a stimulating and challenging curriculum encourage our young learners to thrive at their own pace.

Over 100 years ago, Maria Montessori encouraged educators to “follow the child” and in doing so she left us with not only a system of education but a way of life.

WHAT IS MONTESSORI?

Montessori is an individualized approach to education for children from toddler through high school that helps each child reach full potential in all areas of life. It is a student-centered approach that encourages creativity and curiosity and leads children to ask questions, explore, investigate and think for themselves as they acquire skills.

A Montessori environment focuses more on a student's learning than on a teacher's teaching. Specially trained Montessori teachers guide, coach and facilitate each child's learning through continuous observation and assessment.

“Our aim is not merely to make children understand, and still less to force them to memorize, but so to touch their imaginations as to enthuse them to their innermost core.”
